Frequently Asked Questions

High School Seniors and Boudoir,

High School Senior FAQ's

A: Although I have a studio space, 99.9% of high school seniors want outdoor portraits. Why? Because their whole school career has been indoor portraits since Kindergarten! Also, because we live in Colorado Springs! We have so many gorgeous areas to take photos. You may choose your location or I can give you suggestions.

If you love the outdoors, you could take advantage of the golden hour when the light is soft and warm. There are countless possibilities once you step outside. Choose from a beautiful garden, an open field filled with wildflowers or sit under the shade of the green trees. An urban setting is another option for your photos. Not only will you be able to take advantage of the natural light but you’ll have many interesting backdrops to choose from.

A: Yes! Many of our clients often ask us whether it’s necessary to use a professional hair stylist and makeup artist and we highly recommend it. When you use a professional to help you with your hair and makeup, you’ll not only benefit from their skills and experience but, their professional products too. Drug store makeup and hair products will only last so long and we always achieve much better photos when a professional is used.

A professional will also know what works best with your face shape and complexion. Bonus, doing your own hair and makeup will also be one less thing for you to worry about on the day of the shoot. If you would still prefer to do your own makeup, we recommend that you apply a heavier layer in order for it to show in the photos. If possible, avoid makeup that contains SPF because it may give shine to your skin. With that being said, you can always opt for a translucent powder to help control the shine. Also remember to keep your mascara looking smooth and not clumpy.

I advise three outfits: 1 more dressy, 1 more casual, and one that showcases your personality as a high school senior! These are photos you’re going to want to look back on so make them your own by being true to you.

For the ladies: Don’t shy away from flowing skirts and heels, they make for great photos but there are a multitude of clothing and shoe combinations that work really well too. It’s all dependent on what you feel comfortable in.  Bring along a few clips and pins if your hair has a tendency to fall onto your face. Whatever hairstyles you decide on, make sure that you can also quickly switch between them when you need to otherwise you will have less time in front of the camera.  Make sure that your nails look neat for your session and avoid any bright or distracting styles and colors.  If you will be wearing glasses in your photos, opt for a pair without lenses to avoid a glare.  Try choosing jewelry and accessories that will work with most of your outfits to avoid additional wardrobe changes. It’s also important that your jewelry doesn’t distract from you.  Make sure that your undergarments won’t show through your outfits and that you have a strapless bra available if necessary.

For the guys: If you have longer hair, it’s important that it stays out of your eyes during the shoot. It’s advisable not to make any drastic changes to your hairstyle before the shoot. Try staying away from gym shoes and flip flops. Bring a pair of casual and dressier shoes along that you can interchange.  A cleanly shaven face makes for much better photos.  Avoid shirts that feature graphics on them and it’s always best to bring along a dark or gray t-shirt to wear under other shirts if necessary.

Add a few props. Your photos should tell a story so if you play sports or have a hobby that is important to you, bring in a few props that we can incorporate into your photo shoot.

All of the photo you buy and your yearbook photo will be edited.  Your eyes will sparkle and your skin will be flawless, so there is no need to be overly concerned about any minor imperfections you may have on the day of your shoot.

Yes! Bring your friend and do some fun photos together and your individual photo as well. Each of you will have 1/2 price session fees.

After your photos have been processed, we will meet up so I can show you your amazing portraits in a slideshow with music. Then we will look at each photo set and narrow them down to your favorites. I will guide you through the ordering process so you can be sure your senior photos are displayed in the best way imaginable.

Boudoir FAQ's

A: Absolutely! Lingerie is not the only way to look and feel sexy! You can do a boudoir shoot wearing a dress, robe, button-up etc. Let us know if you are interested in a more in depth wardrobe consult.

Girl, we got you! It is part of the pampering you will get the day of your session. When you use a professional artist to help you with your hair and makeup, you’ll not only benefit from their skills and experience but, their professional products too.

The  women on my website are just like you. Women see boudoir photos and always think: “can I do that, would I look the way these women look.” The answer is: YES! I know exactly how to pose all types of women to look their very very best to create beautiful and ultra flattering images of ANY WOMAN. You don’t have to know what you are doing at all. I will direct you every step of the way, from helping to you prepare for your photo shoot with wardrobe tips, to posing every inch of you from the tips of your fingers to the bottom of your toes!

A: I totally get it. That is why we offer payment plans to make a boudoir portrait experience affordable for every budget. This is an experience you will cherish for a lifetime and you will be able to look back at your pictures and cherish those memories for years to come.

A: I offer in-person (or remote for out-of-state clients) photo reveal and ordering appointments a couple of weeks after your photo session. We do this for a several reasons: First, for your convenience.  We’ve gotten REALLY good at our little system for helping clients decide between images, showing similar images side by side for easy selection, and assisting clients with getting great variety for albums and the perfect wall art pieces. Because we do show a lot of beautiful images, it can be overwhelming to navigate on your own. We want to provide great customer even after the photo shoot.

Second, for security. While doing some sort of online proofing gallery is the go to for some photographers,  boudoir can be more sensitive. We don’t want to store your images anywhere online, leaving them vulnerable to being hacked. We take your privacy seriously.

A: I would LOVE to use images from your session  to show other women your amazing photos and also show them that there is no shame in doing boudoir!  However, I also understand if you or your significant other might not be comfortable sharing them. Therefore, I will not share unless you grant permission. I will honor whatever level of privacy you would like. Many clients are so proud of their images that they give me full discretion to choose images for my portfolio, some clients prefer that only their faceless images be put in my gallery, some clients prefer to choose the images that are posted, and other clients are comfortable with anything being posted.  You will have the opportunity to chose what is best for you.

A: Absolutely. Things come up and sometimes a date no longer works, so I’m happy to make the changes for you. You can reschedule your shoot once without penalty with a minimum 21 days notice. If you need to reschedule with less than 21 days notice, a non refundable rescheduling fee of $100 is due in order to reschedule your shoot day. Any balance paid is not refundable or transferable if you decide to cancel or you don’t show up for your appointment. When you sign up for your session I stop offering that date to other people, thus turning away anyone who may have been interested in shooting that day.

Due to the custom nature of photography, the session price and any products ordered are non-refundable.
