Engagement Photography Ideas- What’s your style?

People are unique and therefore their engagement photos should be unique to them but, some people have a hard time feeling themselves in front of a camera and need a little direction while others are fine forgetting they are being photographed and can be completely candid. Here are some engagement photography ideas on finding your style.

Regardless of which category you fall under, we want you to be comfortable. We also want to get great candid moments between the two of you and will work with you to capture those beautiful moments. You will remember the sweet expressions on each others faces when you are talking sweetly to each other, or the real smiles and laughter from joking, tickling and being silly. Those are the best engagement pictures of all. So, what are the different engagement photography styles?

Traditional Engagement Portraits

Traditional engagement portrait style is more of a posed style of photography. This does not need to be boring! This is romantic, sweet, and fashionable. We will help you pick your location and your clothing style. We will walk you through the best poses for the look you are seeking. Fun, romantic, contemporary, modern, rustic…what ever suits your unique personality. While we are working with you we will also take opportunities to find candid moments and guide you to help create those as well. This really works well for us and our couple’s to get to know each other better and for our couple’s to feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

Candid and Photojournalistic Engagement Portraits

Fun Engagement Portraits

Candid/Photojournalism photography works best for couples who are comfortable in front of the camera already. These couple’s can act natural and completely ignore the photographer. We try to be as non-intrusive as possible during these shoots by using long telephoto lenses. The only direction we will give is placing you in the best lighting at your chosen location for the best possible photographs. These moments create such stunningly intimate gorgeous pictures that you will truly love.

A Mix Of Styles For Your Engagement Portraits

Unless you truly have your heart set on only one style of engagement photography, the best is to get the best of both worlds. This mixed style of engagement photography gives you the freedom and intimacy of photojournalism but, also the assistance of traditional engagement portraits. A great example is a couple we met in downtown Manitou Springs. They did their intimate photojournalism/candid moments in the park, allowing them to be themselves while I photographed from a distance. We moved on and took full advantage of the shops, the arcade, and the stream and trees for all of their other posing them but, also allowing them to be themselves their as well.

Engagement Sessions really help us develop a better relationship with our clients. We get to know them better and they get to know us better as well! They get a relaxing and fun experience and some awesome imagery. It is a very personalized experience which flows over into their wedding day.
